Flow patterns predicted by a continuum model of the whole surface of the Drosophila embryo during axis extension (white arrows), generated by anisotropic Myosin-II contractile forces in the germband (ventral green), and in the posterior mid-gut (posterior green). Modelled flow patterns are similar to real cell flows (yellow shell) based on SPIM in toto imaging (magenta shell).
