Congratulations to Dr Keita Tamura who has received the MRC New Investigator Award. The award will support Dr Tamura's research into object memory.

Why can we easily notice a friend in a crowd and say ‘Hello’? Previous studies have revealed how visual inputs are analysed, memorised and recalled, but how the recalled memory is then used to improve perception and make cognitive decisions remains poorly understood. In their project, the Tamura lab will determine brain-wide neuronal circuits that signal object memory for guiding cognitive and perceptual decision makings by developing cutting-edge opto-physiological approaches. Understanding how object memory works will advance our understanding of visual cognition and its disorders.

The lab is excited to welcome new teammates to explore this question with them!
