Amanda Sferruzzi-Perri awarded 2017 Andrée Gruslin Award

The award from the International Federation of Placenta Associations recognizes her work in the field of placental biology

Dr Amanda Sferruzzi-Perri, member of the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience and the Centre for Trophoblast Research, is the winner of the 2017 Andrée Gruslin Award.

The Andrée Gruslin Award is named in honor of Dr. Andrée Gruslin, a maternal-fetal medicine specialist and researcher. The prize is offered every year to an outstanding female mid-career investigator in the field of placental or placental-related biology.

Amanda is Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellow and University Lecturer in Physiology. Her research interest lies in understanding the aetiology of pregnancy complications and the regulation of developmental processes in a wider context. She has been investigating the environmental and genetic control of placental morphogenesis and function and its relevance for fetal development, maternal health and the long-term programming of disease.

Amanda will receive the award at the International Federation of Placenta Associations conference later this year.
