On two exceptionally warm days this summer (25th and 26th June), Senior Chief Teaching Technician Lorna Roberts, and Teaching and Research Lab Technician Taylor Thomas Lennon, represented PDN at the Science Museum in London, taking part in the Technicians Takeover event, held in the Technicians Gallery and sponsored by the Gatsby Foundation.

The event provided an opportunity to showcase an outreach project developed with support from the TSN ROKS Outreach Demonstrator Fund, highlighting the valuable contribution of Teaching Technicians to education, research support and public engagement.
Young visitors explore the activities
Although several scheduled school visits were cancelled due to the extreme heat, the event was still a great success. Museum visitors engaged enthusiastically with the interactive activities, learning more about the work of Teaching Technicians at the University of Cambridge and exploring scientific concepts including gas diffusion in the lungs and microscopy.
We are extremely grateful to; the Gatsby Foundation, the Science Museum team, TSN ROKS, colleagues involved in the University of Cambridge Technician Commitment and the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience for their support in developing and delivering this project.

It was a privilege to contribute to the Science Museum's celebration of the vital role Technicians play in science and education, while also highlighting the range of technical career pathways available. We hope to build on this success and look forward to future opportunities to participate in similar events.
