Undergraduate Teaching - Camtools
CamTools is a system which has been developed by the University Centre for Applied Research into Educational Technologies (CARET) which provides:
A single access point to learning resources provided by registered courses
- Secure access from Departmental, College and home computers
- E-mail notification when resources are added during the year
- E-mail notification of announcements relating to the course
Students
All students are automatically registered onto the PDN CamTools
sites that they need to access.. If you miss Registration or join the
course late please contact Anita Shelley (ams41@cam.ac.uk)
who will add you to the CamTools site.
Supervisors
Mel Quy (mq200@cam.ac.uk)
maintains a list of current supervisors for courses based in our department.
If you are interested in supervising one of our courses, or if you are
a DoS looking for a supervisor, please contact Mel directly.
If
you no longer wish to supervise our courses, please let Mel know
so that she can remove you from the CamTools sites!

if you have not already been given access.
Loading up lecture/practical material - there are two
ways in which you can do this:
1) e-mail your material to Anita Shelley and she will load the material
onto CamTools and the Course Website.
or
2) You can load the material onto the CamTools site yourself (but please
remember to e-mail Anita Shelley to let her know the material is available,
so she can copy it to the Course Website).
Access
1. Log on to the CamTools web site https://camtools.cam.ac.uk
using your Raven ID (e.g. hmt24) and password. Your Raven ID and password
are administered by the University's central computing service. Your Raven
ID is like your Cambridge email address - for example, 'hmt24'. Your Raven
password can be reset or sent to you again from this address: http://raven.cam.ac.uk
2. Click on the relevant course (if it is not listed on the main tool bar, then you may need to use the drop down box on the right hand side of the screen to find the course you are looking for).
3. The menu on the left hand side of the page allows you access to:
- Course homepage
- Course announcements
- Course syllabus
- Course resources
- User guide
4. By clicking on the links at the top right hand side of the page you can Logout from CamTools.
Learning resources
The following learning resources will be available from the PDN CamTools
sites:
- Selected lecture material: additional material such as Powerpoint presentations provided by lecturers
- Selected practical material: additional material such as class results provided by practical class organisers
- Past examination papers: electronic copies of examination papers from previous years
