General Information
The Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience is the result of a recent merge between the Departments of Anatomy and Physiology. See also entries for the Physiology building and the Craik-Marshall building.
Smoking
No smoking anywhere in the building.
Medical facilities
First aiders in the building.
Emergency procedures
Evacuation chairs fitted.
Physical Access
Entrances
Main entrance involves lots of steps and a heavy door. Ramped access down to goods entrance, opened by swipecard. Intercom available.
Number of floors
Four floors in total, including basement.
Lifts and stairs
Large lift to all floors. At floor one and two, it is possible to transfer to Veterinary wing of the building.
Lecture theatres
Main lecture theatre has ramped access through goods entrance. Tiered seating, with no handrails up steps. room for wheelchairs.
Seminar/teaching rooms
Two seminar rooms on ground floor of main building and all laboratories accessible by lift.
Library
Library is now located in the Physiology building.
Computer facilities
Computers available for use by Vet students in the Vet Library, with level one access from lift.
Toilets
Disabled toilet in basement of main building.
Common rooms
Common room is now located in the Physiology building.
Visual Impairments
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs welcome.
Computer facilities
Currently no special hardware or software for visually impaired users.
Large print, Braille and audio
Large print information on prior request.
Library and magnification equipment
Good lighting in library, but no extra lights on individual desks. Photocopier available. Magnifying glass available from library.
Signs and wayfinding
Good, clear signs around the department.
Hearing Impairments
Induction loops
None at present.
Specific Learning Difficulties and Mental Health Issues
Arrangements for members with Specific Learning Difficulties are on an individual basis, in conjunction with the Disability Resource Centre. Enquiries about the departmental resources should be directed to the Disability Liaison Officer (Mr Alan Cattell 333895 awc20@cam.ac.uk).
